Lauahi Pele i Kai o Puna

With the lava flow steadily marching towards Pahoa town, the words of this hula kahiko Echo in my mind. The next verse, malama I ke kanaka , calls to Pele to take care of man. Maybe she wil change her path .

Day 7..drawing and painting all day

I've been saving this day to practice some of those demo ideas I saw in the workshop, but also gave myself time to paint with those watersoluble oils I got...(and don't know how to use) so I tried Hibiscus

Then,  continuing with the watercolor skies I painted last night, I got that song in my head "places I have been to, cities I have seen. "

Last nights was supposed to be Boston ..do you see it? And today's.  Shanghai along the Bund.

That's it for today. More surprises tomorrow.

Day 6

Painting at night is new for me but the day slipped by too fast. So at least I can try a sky a day

Thirty days of art

Last week's watercolor workshop with Iain Stewart gave me lots of ideas and challenges to bump up my art with some new techniques.  More than technique though is the challenge to do something every day  ..kind of like my "don't break the streak" attempts.

So, with Rebecca and Carol, I'm in day 6 of the challenge.  Some ideas to keep me going, paint a sky a day, draw in my sketchbook, do a value sketch in detail for every painting, do the demos over again until I like them....so much to do.

Today's entry will have to come along later after granddaughter Sofia goes home.  Be right back.!

October paintings

Ok, here goes! trying to keep my art streak going for thirty one days. Here's one for yesterday and today.
Paris street, second wash. I'm pretty happy with the colors so far but cant claim the drawing since Iain drew almost everything at the bottom and straightened up all my crooked buildings.

Sunset launch..trying to paint fast for the show Saturday  makes me realize the lesson I'm learning is I need to spend a  lot more time drawing and planning my composition.
