Spider Lilies-SOLD

Look for Spider Lilies at the 2010 HawaiiWatercolor Soc iety Members' Exhibit. Waimanalo Beach House(SOLD)  didn't make the cut, but I'm happy with one out of two.

Windward Artist's Guild

I'm so honored to have two works accepted into the February Members Show of the Windward Artist's Guild. Juror Inger Tully selected 65 of a total of 198 pieces entered.

New Year Ideas

It's been a long time since I posted pictures. The Windward Wanderer's Show is up and I entered 4 paintings. Here are some ideas I'm working at at home- I didn't paint them this color- put on photoshop and increased saturation to get some new ideas on color.

Hula is life

It's about time for me to start painting hula themes- I've put if off hoping my drawing would get better- but there's no time like now to get started. Hula sisters, I would love to see some of your favorite a`ali`i photos to get some inspiration.

Planning ahead

I love a photo we took with John and Sally in Barcelona along Las Ramblas. I keep trying to draw and paint it and think I'll use it as my first painting in my upcoming class. Eventually I'm sure it will be great. (That's what drawing and painting lessons are for , right?) When I finish my drawing class John (in the red hat) and Jerry( in blue shirt) will look great. So will the girl walking with her hands at her sides! Or I could just keep the flowers and cut everything else out?

Practicing washes

After reading about washes again, I redid my plein air painting by starting with a wash of cobalt blue from the top and new gamboge from the bottom. It's so light and didn't really show clouds I saw that day, but it's good practice. Also practiced dark tolight washes on the mountains. What do you think?
